2017 Syrah
2017 was what we like to call a “Cinderella” year on the farm. Absolutely nothing went wrong weather wise (it’s Texas, never normal) and the quality of fruit out of the vineyards was stunning. Therefore, when the fruit gets to the winery it is my job not to screw it up. This wine, done in my style, was held for 24 months in neutral oak. This makes for a smooth and fruit forward red wine. The smokiness in this wine comes from the grape itself, not the toast of the barrel. When it is fermenting in the winery it smells like fresh brewed coffee! This wine pairs well with coffee rubs on pork and beef. A total of 75 cases were produced.
